This is a really beautiful holophane prismatic glass shade in great condition. You fixture comes with all the necessary hardware and is ready to install in you home.
Holophane Glass dates back to the late 19th century when it was first developed by a French engineer and inventor named André Blondel. In 1898, Blondel collaborated with the French glass manufacturer, Société des Verreries Mécaniques de Saint-Gobain, to develop a new type of glass that could control and distribute light more efficiently. The term "Holophane" is derived from the Greek words "holos" meaning "whole" and "phanos" meaning "light." Holophane Glass was designed with a prismatic pattern on its surface. This pattern consisted of a series of ridges, prisms, or other optical elements that manipulated the path of light passing through the glass. It allowed the glass to refract, reflect, and diffuse light in a controlled manner, producing a more uniform and pleasant illumination.
